Advocacy and Humanitarian Efforts

Isuri served as the United Nations Association representative for the 60th Commission on the Status of Women, the Social Good Summit, VoteForTheWorld Ambassador and was an UN Youth Assembly delegate. Her humanitarian and advocacy work entails expressing issues of social justice through performance. Over the past 4 years, Isuri has been devising theatre around issues of justice based on experiences, and real stories. Some of her work are around the areas of : The role of women in war, racial injustice, campus sexual assault, the lack of sex(ual) education in Sri Lanka and cyber sexual harassment.

On May 18, Adelphi University proudly recognized its 2018 graduates in the 122nd Commencement ceremony at NYCB Live: Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Isuri delivered the Undergraduate remarks at the 122nd Commencement ceremony as the President of the Class of 2018.

A performance and visual art piece around the issue of campus sexual assault. Directed by Maggie Lally Co-Directed by Isuri Wijesundara Now You See Me was a visual interactive art piece of a recreated dorm room with victims of varying abuses from emotional to physical abuse.
